gathering 2019
the 23e The gathering took place with the complicity of Mother Nature in a warm setting. Its slightly modified formula allowed us to attend the evening "The Fabulous History of a Kingdom" which is at its 32e season. The Annual General Meeting was held in the early afternoon followed by a cocktail and early dinner for the departure of the play.
Among the members present, we had the pleasure to welcome Mario (0079) and his wife Annie from France for the occasion. Despite the fact that there was no guided tour, most 66 participants, from all over Quebec, took advantage of the weather to discover and learn the history of this beautiful region including visiting the village. the ghost of Val-Jalbert, the Trou de la Fée in Desbiens, the Sir-William-Price History Center, the aluminum bridge, artisan cheese and micro-breweries and much more.
What a memorable evening! Indeed "The Fabulous" is a historical piece that was to be played for a single season as part of the 150ème anniversary of Saguenay-Lac-St-Jean, and 32 years later she is still there. There are 150 volunteer comedians who come on stage to perform up to 12 roles each, a six-horse cavalry and several other animals, vintage cars, all on a huge stage. What a privilege to have access to the stage after the performance, to rub shoulders with actors and discover the scope of this production.
Sunday morning, we attended Mass at Sainte-Famille Church, followed by a brunch where we were able to feast again before leaving us and promising to meet again next year. Draws took place during the meals of Saturday and Sunday including a painting, offered by Francine Michaud, that Wilbrod Soucy deserved.
In closing Winner, introduced the new board of directors and thanked Denis (0022) and his team for organizing this beautiful gathering.
